What are cookies?
In computer terms, a cookie is a small piece of data that a Web site can store on your system to help personalize your online experience.
Anytime a cookies is sent to your computer, it includes the name of the cookie, the value it contains, where it is valid (what Web site, etc) and how long it will be used. When a cookie is saved to your browser by Focus on the Family, it can only be accessed by Focus on the Family.

Why do I need cookies to use the shopping cart? What if my cookies aren't working?
Cookies are used to temporarily store information about both the items you've placed in your cart and your account information during checkout. Without them, the check-out process cannot be completed.
If your cookies are not working, it may be that a "cookie-trimming" or file utility software is causing the difficulty. Programs such as WebFree, Guard Dog, Cookie Cutter, Cookie Monster, Junkbuster and Watchdog may be set to suppress cookies. Check the individual software help section to adjust settings to solve this problem.
It may also be your browser security settings causing the problem. The way to ensure your cookies are working varies from browser to browser. For example, Netscape allows you to change the settings to accept cookies by clicking Preferences on the Edit drop-down menu, then choosing Advanced and adjusting the settings in the Cookies box.
If you are using Internet Explorer, click the Tools drop-down menu, then click "Internet Options." Click the Security tab, then click the Custom Level button. Click the radio buttons next to Enable beneath both "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" and "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)." This should enable your browser to accept cookies.

How is my account registration information processed?

If you have turned off cookies in your browser, you will not be able to request resources through the Focus Resource Center. Make sure you write down the e-mail address, the password and the answer to the "hint" question you provide while registering.
